Craziness

Like everyone else I have great plans that just never seem to work out exactly as I would like them to. I decided to reflect on what we are doing in class. As I am writing, my students are watching the movie Island of the Blue Dolphins. The students seem to have really liked the book and are questioning the acting in the movie! It amazes me how they expect all the action of a modern day film. Tomorrow we will create a Venn Diagram comparing the movie and the book.

Change of Plans!

As I have learned more and more about this I have decided to introduce my students to blogging by allowing them to comment on the novels we are reading aloud in class. We are currently reading A Family Apart, but will start The Kid who Ran for President next week. It is my goal for them to go to the Library once a week and journal in the comments about what we have read.

I am so excited about starting this blogging journey with my 5th graders this year! I have the most awesome group of students this year and I know they are going to enjoy this as much as I am. Right now we are reading Island of the Blue Dolphins and I am so impatient about getting this set up so that they can enter their own blog.
